Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow
Kate's first album of new material since 2005. The songs are centered on winter and the sound is sparse and somewhat abastarct. There are only seven songs in the album but it runs around an hour so Kate definitely stretches things out. It features her son and Andy Fairweather-Low on a couple of the tracks.
Etta James - The Dreamer
The album which she announced would be her last due to medical problems is uniquely Etta James with her mix of styles. While everything here doesn't work, it still is a strong final testament to a woman who's been producing notable music for 50 years.
Daryl Hall - Laughing Down Crying
Daryl Hall's first solo release in 14 years covers some of the ground and sound that Hall produced with Hall & Oates but rather than recreate that past, this is more of a finely aged sound. This is not a former rock star going through the motions to wring out what he can from his fan base but an artist who still has things to say and can convey that in well crafted pop songs.
